Technical Tours

On Friday, June 7th, three technical tours are organized:

Technical tour I: TATA Steel

This technical tour to Tata Steel, IJmuiden, includes a visit the innovation centre and one of the production plants.

Tata Steel is one of the world’s most geographically diversified steel producers, with operations in 26 countries and commercial offices in over 35 countries. It serves many demanding markets worldwide, including construction and infrastructure, automotive, packaging and engineering, and understands that customer needs are different in each market. For automotive, Tata Steel offers multiple steel products ranging from strip to tube and tailor welded blanks to advanced automotive steels. For packaging, Tata Steel makes specialist steels designed for food and drinks cans, aerosols, paint tins, luxury packaging and more.

For this tour the maximum number of participants is 50 persons. During the return journey to Enschede, an optional drop-off at Schiphol airport (in case requested) will be arranged.

08:00 – 10:30 Bus trip, Enschede - IJmuiden
10:30 – 15:00 Visit Tata Steel including Lunch
15:00 – 15:45 Optional drop-off at Schiphol airport
16:00 – 18:30 Bus trip, Schiphol airport – Enschede

Technical tour II: VDL Weveler

The technical tour to VDL Weweler, in Apeldoorn, includes a visit to the production site.

VDL Weweler develops, produces and sells parabolic springs, air suspension systems, special axles and related articles for manufacturers of trailers, trucks and buses.

For this tour the maximum number of participants is 25 persons. During the return journey to Enschede, an optional drop-off at Apeldoorn train station (in case requested) will be arranged.

08:45 – 10:00 Bus trip, Enschede - Apeldoorn
10:00 – 12:30 Visit VDL Weveler including Lunch in the bus
12:30 – 13:00 Optional drop-off at Apeldoorn train station for Schiphol Airport
13:00 – 14:00 Bus trip, Apeldoorn – Enschede


† Travel time from Apeldoorn train station to Schiphol airport is normally 1h10’; with trains running every hour at :14’ and :44’.

Technical tour III: Ardagh

This technical tour is to the Ardagh Group, can-manufacturing plant in Deventer.

Ardagh Group is a global supplier of infinitely recyclable, metal and glass packaging for the world’s leading brands. Ardagh operates more than 100 metal and glass production facilities in 22 countries across five continents, employing over 23,000 people with sales of $9bn.

For this tour the maximum number of participants is 25 persons. During the return journey to Enschede, an optional drop-off at Deventer train station (in case requested) will be arranged.

09:00 – 10:00 Bus trip, Enschede - Deventer
10:00 – 12:30 Visit Ardagh including Lunch in the bus
12:30 – 13:00 Optional drop-off at Deventer train station for Schiphol Airport
13:00 – 14:00 Bus trip, Deventer – Enschede


† Travel time from Deventer train station to Schiphol airport is normally 1h20’; with trains running every hour at :03’ (direct) and :33’ (one change at Amersfoort station).
